POLYGAMY
Polygamy clearly is NOT ENCOURAGED NOR FORBIDDEN. Many of the critics of polygamy say that God never endorse this kind of living, however, the Bible & Quran does show there were many holy men who practiced this form of marriage.In Genesis 16:1-3 I read, “Now Sarai Abram’s wife bared him no children: and she had a handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar. And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the Lord hath restrained me from baring: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai. And Sarai Abram’s wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.” ……, the real question we need to ask is: WHY did Sarai give her husband another wife? The Bible clearly states, so he could HAVE OFFSPRING.
That is the real principle behind the law of polygamy… Polygamy clearly is not forbidden because in certain situation you need to do it as the way out of your problem. Some priest says that polygamy allowed only in ancient times…. It is ridiculous, how can God change his mind all the time…. God never change his law. His law must be not only fit in the past time but also in the future (To say that since this happened in olden times makes it all right, doesn’t make sense.
Abraham was completely obedient to the Lord. If this was an abominable act, God would have stopped him like He did before killing Isaac. Since he Bible declares that God is the same yesterday, today and forever, (Hebrews 13 : 8 ) and He doesn’t change (Malachi 3:6) therefore it’s impossible for him to consider something an abomination in one generation and but perfectly acceptable in another ).
God is not the same as the Indonesian government who make regulations often after problem has come up. Is it not better to follow Gods laws instead of the laws put into place by governments ( Western Goverment )superseding governments continually from generation to generation as Gods laws have love and compassion for mankind. Today’s laws that have been introduced for birth termination or artificial insemination for individuals. Whereas it must be better for a man who has the capability to handle the situation of taking on another wife and bring them into a loving family environment.
Polygamy is SOLUTION NOT AN ORDER. Order in Quran normally says “O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and die not except in a state-of Islam” or “ O you who believe! Make not unlawful the good things which Allah has made lawful for you, but commit no excess: for Allah loves not those given to excess “ ( Holy Quran 5:87 ) … but in that chapter clearly said “ If you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice, two or three or four; but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly, then only one, or ( a captive ) that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice “ ( Holy Quran 4 : 3 ), do you think that is like an order ?
So if you don’t have a problem with your marriage and why do you need a solution, and remember the solution is not always to remarry or to seek a divorce.
